Samsung’s Strategic Vision: Empowering Connected Care Through Open Ecosystems at VivaTech 2026

Samsung Electronics outlined its strategic vision for connected care, leveraging its open collaboration ecosystem, during a panel discussion at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, Europe’s premier startup and technology exhibition.

Panel Discussion: The Future of Connected Healthcare

Hon Pak, Head of the Digital Health Team for Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, participated in the discussion alongside David Lee, Head of Samsung Next; Mike McSherry, CEO of Xealth; Alina Su, CEO of Generation Lab; and Michael Dubrovsky, CEO of SiPhox Health. The panel, attended by around 1,000 global participants, presented a comprehensive blueprint for the future of healthcare.

Moderating the panel, David Lee underscored the importance of partnerships: “The future of health cannot be built by one company alone. It requires an open ecosystem of collaboration among innovative entities.”

Developing an Open Health Ecosystem

Samsung’s extensive portfolio, which includes semiconductors, smartphones, wearables, home appliances, and televisions, enables the company to create a robust collaborative ecosystem across its business domains. Integrating Samsung devices with partner solutions, entities like Xealth, Generation Lab, and SiPhox Health are driving the realization of connected care aimed at proactive wellness management.

Hon Pak highlighted Samsung’s significant user base: “Samsung Health supports over 77 million monthly active users, and the SmartThings platform connects 460 million users.” By leveraging its presence in households—a critical setting for health and wellness—Samsung aims to innovate health experiences at scale through its SmartThings connections.

To facilitate this, Samsung has integrated a wide array of devices into its SmartThings platform, enabling services ranging from personalized automation routines to holistic family and pet care.

Accelerating Innovation via Partnerships

The panelists emphasized the strength of Samsung’s established ecosystem and open collaboration approach. Alina Su from Generation Lab noted: “Samsung’s genuine openness and distribution scale, combined with technical capability, enable rapid co-creation with partners.” Michael Dubrovsky of SiPhox Health added, “Samsung provides a comprehensive device ecosystem, while SiPhox adds the necessary diagnostic layer, creating a complete health picture not previously available outside clinical settings.”

Generation Lab offers solutions for managing biological age, while SiPhox Health facilitates active health management through home-based hospital-grade blood tests. Mike McSherry from Xealth discussed bridging clinical care in hospitals with daily wellness management, aiming for a seamless healthcare experience.

Enhancing Security and Collaboration

Beyond strategic partnerships, Samsung has developed an open ecosystem for developers and researchers through its Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK) Suite. This platform allows for the rapid creation of innovative wellness services utilizing advanced sensor technology.

Security remains a priority, with Samsung Knox providing defense-grade protection across mobile devices, home appliances, and televisions, ensuring safe management of sensitive information within the Samsung ecosystem.

Looking ahead to the AI-driven future of healthcare, Hon Pak concluded, “Our goal is a daily companion that understands user needs, helping achieve health goals through lifestyle and connected partner services.”

The number of Samsung Health and SmartThings users is based on global monthly active users as of April and May 2026, respectively.
