Apple’s Health app update broadens language options

Apple has announced an update to its redesigned Health app, which now includes expanded language support for global English, Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional), French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. This expansion aims to provide personalized health insights to millions across the globe. The app, utilizing Apple Intelligence, adapts to individual health metrics on iPhone and iPad, offering users insights into optimizing their daily routines and a comprehensive overview of their long-term health.

The enhanced Health app features a new Insights tab, providing holistic summaries on various health metrics including heart rate, sleep, fitness, and more throughout the day. A section named For You offers personalized recommendations based on a user’s habits, such as advice on adjusting evening routines after several nights of interrupted sleep. The app also includes dynamic health content, with educational videos and articles from clinical experts associated with the Health app.

A new Longevity tab has been introduced to help users understand their health trends over time. This tab analyzes metrics related to heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing, and nutrition. A key feature of this tab is Health Age, which uses data from the Apple Watch, like VO2 max and heart rate, to indicate how a user’s physical health aligns with their chronological age. Users can also add clinical lab data, such as A1c and LDL cholesterol, to get a fuller picture of their long-term health.

The update also offers at-home movement assessments, making it possible to perform physical evaluations without special equipment. Utilizing the iPhone camera and Apple Watch, users can assess flexibility, strength, balance, movement mechanics, and VO2 max with real-time feedback. This functionality is powered by on-device AI models developed with clinical experts’ input, ensuring no video is saved or shared as all processing occurs on the device.

The updated Health app is currently available in the iOS 27.3 developer beta and will be released to the public as a free software update later this year. Apple plans to continue expanding language support for the Health app.
